Fire insurance policy is basically a contract between the insurer and the buyer, where the insurer promises to pay for the loss of damages caused to the property of the insurer due to named perils. The duration of the policy is 1 year and has to be renewed every year. Fire insurance coverage include mishaps caused due to lightening, accidental fire, explosion, implosion etc. Premium costs, terms of coverage including excess and other conditions of the policy are influenced by the fire tariff given by competent authority.

Insurable Property - The fire insurance policy is meant to cover erected fixed assets and movable assets whilst lying at a particular location and declared accordingly for insurance. It includes :

  • Architects, Surveyors and Consulting Engineers Fees (in excess of 3% claim amount)

  • Removal of debris in excess of 1% of claim amount.

  • Deterioration of stocks in cold storage premises due to change in temperature arising out of loss or damage to the cold storage machinery (ies) in the Insured’s premises due to operation of insured peril.

Main Features

This Policy offers comprehensive insurance for erection projects and provides cover during Storage, Erection and Testing of property at the insured site. The Policy is provided for the entire period of the project rather than an annual contract.


There are two Sections in the Policy.

  • Section I - provides coverage for the property lost, damaged or destroyed by any cause, other than those specifically excluded in the Policy, necessitating replacement or repair.
